Per the Constitution, the Board has elected Cam Rock to the position of Board Chair effective immediately. Many of you will know Cam, from his role as a referee and most recently as Referee in Chief. Cam came to inline hockey when he moved here from Canada in 2019 and has been active in the sport from literally the first weekend he was in New Plymouth when he refereed his first games, with borrowed equipment and brand-new inline skates. He currently coaches the Ravens Junior Women and U14 teams. He has played for the Ravens Master’s team, the Central region Master’s interregional team and coached the U16 Ravens and U16 Central region Interregional team.
The Board wishes to thank Cameron McIver for his service as chair over the last 4 years. He will continue serving on the board as committee chair for growth and development, an area that he has been passionate about since he joined the board in 2019. Cameron fostered us through one of our most difficult times as a sport during the Covid pandemic and the many challenges that were part of that difficult time. His desire to grow the sport led to the development of the Matariki series, the National Premier League, the Junior Festival of Hockey and the transition to the conference model. We are excited about his further contributions to our sport through his new role.
The Board’s immediate focus continues to be on the conference league play, the Matariki tournament, National Prem League Round 3, the Junior Interconference tournament and preparation for the Junior Festival of Hockey and Senior Nationals. Cam and the Board look forward to working with the conference committee members and the clubs to continue to grow our sport and will be reaching out shortly to arrange conference calls to introduce Cam.
Cheers,
Cam Rock
Referee in Chief
